RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

Choosing the Topic

For the Research paper, the researcher should choose a subject in which he already has personal interest or experience. He should be practical and sure that sufficient resources. On the topic are available and accessible. Topics that are too broad should be avoided. Trivial subjects should also be avoided. The researcher has to choose a topic that is worth researching. It is good for a researcher to select a topic by the joint effect of the researcher and the supervisor. A confined knowledge to the text prescribed will not help a researcher much in his research. He can have a full view of the author when he studies all his works. It has been seen that an author’s autobiography, letters, journals and critical writings have helped a researcher more in comprehending his creative works than the commentaries and critical studies. After choosing the topic, the researcher has to narrow the topic chosen. The topic will be too wide is the researcher has chosen the topic A Critical Study of W.B.Yeats Poetry.  It can be the title of  a book, not a doctoral dissertation. Narrowing the topic to specificity is more important. Therefore, it will be wise for the researcher to narrow the topic to Greek mythology in the poetry of W.B.Yeats. Then only the research will be deep, penetrating and illuminating.
